Travel Nurse Supervisor RN - Behavioral Health - $2,475 per week

Conducts immediate triage for all new behavioral health presentations (primary or secondary) to the ED.

·

Performs risk and safety assessments to determine appropriate precautions, including elopement risk; suicide or self-harm risk; aggression potential; need for 1:1 sitter; detox signs and symptoms; environmental safety needs; and need for medical treatment.

·

Initiates behavioral management strategies tailored to the patient’s presentation.

·

Communicates findings and recommendations to the primary RN and ED provider.

·

Participates in change-out and removal of belongings, valuables, electronic devices including phones, and contraband.

·

Creates individualized behavioral management plans to guide the care team

·

Outlines strategies for de-escalation, communication approaches, triggers to avoid, and reinforcement techniques

·

Ensures the plan is documented clearly and updated as the patient’s condition evolves

·

Assesses patients whether they will require a blocked room

·

Provides real-time education to primary RNs on behavioral health conditions, crisis behaviors, and management techniques

·

Coaches staff on trauma-informed care, verbal de-escalation, and maintaining therapeutic boundaries

·

Serves as a resource for questions or concerns related to patient behavior

·

Performs routine rounding on all behavioral health patients holding in the ED

·

Reassesses safety needs, behavioral changes, and effectiveness of interventions

·

Ensures monitoring protocols (e.g., 1:1 observation, safety checks) are being followed appropriately

·

Collaborates with psychiatry, intake, and ED leadership to support patient flow and disposition planning

·

Responds immediately to all CODE BERT activations

·

Leads or supports de-escalation efforts using verbal and non-verbal techniques

·

Coordinates with security, providers, and nursing staff to ensure patient and staff safety

·

Helps determine when additional interventions (medication, restraints, sitter adjustments) may be necessary, following policy and provider direction

·

Reviews behavioral health documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory standards

·

Ensures safety monitoring documentation is timely and appropriate

·

Identifies gaps or trends and communicates them to leadership for process improvement

·

Completes medication reconciliation

·

Perform thorough assessments and develop appropriate plans of care for patients and their families who present to hospital with Behavioral Health needs.

·

Review of patient notes to help identify psychosocial needs and possible interventions/advocacy.

·

Build a rapport by providing continuity of care with patients and acting as their advocate throughout their hospital stay.

·

Collaborate between multiple care givers and foster communication between medical teams and nursing staff.

·

Participate in interdisciplinary care planning process with the Psychiatric Care Team

·

Demonstrates awareness of current trends that influence health care practice and assures compliance with professional, regulatory, governmental and organization standards.

·

Conduct screenings for new behavioral health patients to determine safety needs.

·

Provide brief interventions to patients who are identified as high risk for suicidie, homicidal ideation, or violent behaviors.

·

Participate in quality improvement initiatives that promote excellence in behavioral health care

·

Meets eligible behavioral health patients in the hospital, educates patients and families and staff about the patients diagnosis, treatment, and behavioral plans.

·

Works closely with house supervisors and psychiatric intake team to coordinate and expedite throughput of patient through the care continuum.

·

Responds to Behavioral Health activations to determine need for immediate intervention

·

Works collaboratively with RN case managers, Social Workers, acute care nurses, physicians , and other staff members to proactively identify and address patient needs. Maintains effective communication between members of the care team.

·

Demonstrates knowledge of patient rights, advance directives, ethical issues, and confidentiality requirements.

·

Collaborates with the clinical care team to ensure the patients feel understood, heard and their perspective is valued.

·

Performs other duties as assigned.
