Forklift Operator

Job Summary | The Forklift Operator in the Shipping department is responsible for accurately and safely loading trucks and transporting glass throughout the facility to meet daily shipping requirements at Cardinal IG, a world-class glass fabricator that leads the nation in providingthe highest quality insulating glass products for the residential window and door industry. Essential Functions | Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety practices and guidelines Inspect racks for quality and verify the product is loaded accurately to meet or exceed Cardinal and customer expectations Safely operate powered equipment while transporting glass throughout the facility and loading and unloading products Ensure the driving zone is clear from debris or hazards by maintaining a clean work environment Operate manipulator to pack glass into wooden crates, if necessary Ensure all rejected glass is dumped into recycling bins Utilize handheld scanners when loading trailers to create bill of lading Communicate with IG department to stage racks required for production Utilize the wrap machine or shrink-wrap racks manually Ensure open communication with manager and team by ensuring radio remains on while working on the plant floor Willingness to seek out additional roles and responsibilities within your department Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively, ensuring all radio calls are answered Assist the team, leads, and management in achieving departmental objectives Strong organization and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to read, write, and communicate in English Perform housekeeping tasks in the workspace to maintain a clean work area Requires regular in-person attendance May be required to work overtime, different shifts, and perform additional tasks to meet company needs and deadlines Workplace Environment Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and potentially sharp objects Noise level can be high and will vary based on location in the plant May be required to move racks and rejected glass indoor and outdoor Qualifications | Minimum of two years of sit-down forklift experience is required Consistent work history in glass manufacturing or warehouse setting preferred Must be 18 years or older High School Diploma or GED preferred Physical Demands | Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs Climbing/ Manipulation/Reaching/Push/Pull/Grip/Pinch What We Offer Potential Monthly Profit-Sharing Plan 401(k) and Roth 401(k) Generous Employee Referral Program Cross-training and growth advancement opportunities Medical/Dental/Vision Plan Lifer and Disability Insurance Employee Assistance Program Observes 9 Paid Holidays Safety Shoes/Glasses Allowance Work-life balance- various shifts available Climate-controlled facility and covered parking Shift: 2nd Shift: Monday - Friday 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM Pay: 2nd Shift: $20.00 + $1.00 Shift Differential = $21.00/hour + Potential Monthly Profit Sharing Cardinal Glass is committed to cultivating and preserving a culture of diversity, inclusion, and connectedness.
