Veterinary Extern - General Practice

Overview Animal Clinic of Farmers Branch offers a $1,500 travel stipend for Clinical Year Externships. This externship experience at an NVA hospital provides veterinary students the opportunity to gain hands‑on clinical experience and understand day‑to‑day operations of a veterinary practice. Responsibilities Work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gather patient histories. Perform physical examinations of patients. Create and develop treatment plans. Assist with diagnostics. Perform or assist with dentistry services. Observe, assist, or perform surgical procedures. Manage medical care for patients. Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients. Eligibility & Stipend Most externship experiences at Animal Clinic of Farmers Branch range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to participate. Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
