Medical Collector
Addison Group is partnering with a growing healthcare organization seeking experienced Medical Collector to join their physician revenue cycle team. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with strong professional (CMS-1500) collections experience who are looking for a primarily remote position with long-term growth potential.
The Medical Collector will be responsible for managing physician accounts receivable, resolving denials, submitting appeals, and working claims through full resolution. This position requires a strong understanding of the professional billing revenue cycle, payer guidelines, and insurance follow-up.
Candidates should be comfortable researching complex claim issues, working independently, and communicating directly with insurance carriers to maximize reimbursement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform insurance follow-up on outstanding physician (CMS-1500) claims.
- Research and resolve denied, underpaid, and unpaid claims.
- Prepare and submit appeals and corrected claims when appropriate.
- Investigate payer correspondence and determine next steps for claim resolution.
- Utilize payer portals to review claim status and supporting documentation.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all account activity.
- Work claims through full resolution while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
- Analyze denial trends and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve billing discrepancies and support clean claim submission.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of physician (Profee/CMS-1500) accounts receivable experience required.
- Strong experience with insurance follow-up, denials management, and appeals.
- Experience working complex and high-dollar claims.
- Experience utilizing payer portals and communicating directly with insurance companies.
- Government payer experience (Medicaid, Medicare, Managed Care) strongly preferred.
- Experience working in multiple billing systems.
- Behavioral Health billing experience is required.
- Experience with Oklahoma Medicaid or CCBHC billing is a plus.
Additional Details:
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Work Model: One week of onsite training, then primarily remote (preference for candidates open to occasional onsite meetings if needed)
- Assignment Type: Contract-to-Hire
