Connected CommunityClub Vision:To be the leading private club for families and professionals in Northern California, delivering joy, connection, and excellence through our unparalleled facilities and signature experiences.Position SummaryThe Golf Course Groundskeeper, under the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent, is to perform routine manual labor involved in golf course maintenance; do semi-skilled grounds construction and maintenance work; operate small hand-powered equipment; and occasionally perform work involving large equipment such as tractors, loaders and large mowers. Each Golf Course Section Groundskeeper is responsibility for the care and maintenance of several designated holes on the golf course and does related work as required.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Golf Course Groundskeeper will be required to perform the following tasks, but not limited to:Maintaining Greens:Blow off any debris (leaves, pine needles etc…)Walk mow greensChange cups according to the pin sheets and corresponding numbers on the calendar in the break roomFix all ball marks on the greensFix all high plugs on the greensMonitor moisture level of the greens (spot water by hand if needed)Report any damage or suspicious looking activity on the green (gophers, deer marks, vandalism or disease) to the Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent immediatelyMaintaining Tees:Remove all broken tees from entire tee complexTop dress divots with sand/seed mix, use Level Lawn to spread sand/seed mix evenly on the Tee boxTee markers should be positioned five paces apart from each other and facing square to the greenClean all bench mulch areas and remove any weedsEmpty garbage from tee presentations, clean ball washer spike brushes and check the fluid level of the ball washer’sEmpty and replace the water in the ball washers twice a week (Tuesday and Friday)Maintaining Bunkers:All debris should be removed from the bunkers prior to rakingRemove all weeds in the bunkers dailyRake sand towards the bunker edges so that the sand does not settle at the bottom of the bunkerBunker lips should be uniform according to our standardsGreens Side Bunkers – Lips facing towards the green need to be no more than 4 inches high and the lips at the back of the bunker should be no more that 1 inchFairway Bunkers – The sand should be no more than 1 inch below the lips of the bunkersBunker rakes should be properly placed according to our standardsGreens Side Bunkers – Rakes should be placed outside the bunker evenly spaced apartFairway Bunkers – Rakes should always be placed outside the bunker parallel to the direction of playCheck bunker sand depth once a week and add or move sand around the bunker to ensure proper depthsMaintain Cart Paths and Mulch areas:Cart paths next to Tees and Greens that have mulch should be cleaned dailyCobble Stones next to cart paths should be weed freeAll mulch areas should be free of weedsTaller weeds should be pulled by handSmall weeds can be sprayed with Round-UpMulch next to cart pathsOther golf course related duties include:Waters greens, tees, and fairways.Applies herbicide to designated mulch and non-turf areas under the direct supervision of a certified applicator.Maintains clean and straight rope lines to redirect cart traffic around turf areas with issues.Helps with project work; assists in the construction of new golf course features.May be asked to operate mowers, dump trucks, or other light equipment.Performs other duties as directed by his/her supervisor.Minimum Qualifications:Requires knowledge of methods and materials used in grounds and landscape area construction/maintenance work.Ability to operate trucks and light motorized equipment.Ability to follow oral and written directions.Familiarity and safe operation of hand tools and power equipment used in groundskeeping is required.The physical stamina to perform manual labor outdoors in various weather conditions.Ability to safely operate hand tools and power equipment used in groundskeeping is required.Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.A knowledge of and/or ability to play the game golf and understand how job performance affect the playing conditions of the golf course.Highly encouraged to maintain effective employee and membership relations.Requires a valid California driver’s license.Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
