About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: State or Compact license required Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Recent Epic experience (within 6 months) At least 1 year of inpatient medical/surgical experience Description: The position requires working nights, either 3x12 or 4x12 shifts. The unit accepts first-time travelers. Charting is done using Epic. Certifications required include BLS. The patient ratios are 1:6. Floating to units of equal or lesser acuity is required. The medical surgical patient population includes telemetry monitored in a centralized unit. A free-floating charge nurse is available. Each unit is assigned Patient Care Technicians. Patient transporters are available to assist with patient mobility. A house discharge nurse floats across departments. Interdisciplinary support includes Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, Transportation, and Unit Secretary. The department accommodates adult and geriatric patient age groups. The daily census is approximately 37 patients. The unit has 44 rooms and beds. Skills required include Isolation Precautions/PPE, Med/Surg, Nasal Cannula, Non-invasive airway management, and Peripheral Line Care/Management.
