SPEECH THERAPIST (PER DIEM)

Responsibilities Assumes responsibility and accountability for providing comprehensive evaluation and treatment of performance components affecting cognition, swallowing, speech, language, reading and overall function. To provide goal-oriented treatment to facilitate maximum level of independence to clients suffering from disability, disease or injury. The speech-language pathologist organizes, conducts, and elevates medically prescribed speech therapy programs to restore function and prevent disability following disease, injury or loss of a body part; helps patients reach their maximum performance and assume a place in society while learning to live within their capabilities. Directs and supervises interns, externs, and clinical fellows. Recognizes the signs and symptoms of stroke and calls a stroke alert overhead. Verbalizes stroke alert process. Consults and assessments/reassessments will be performed and documented within 24 hours of admission or when feasible once patient is medically stable. Maintains currency in stroke knowledge by completing the annual 4 hours online training. Qualifications Graduate of accredited Graduate School of Speech & Language having earned a Master of Art or Science Degree in Speech and Language with Certificate of Clinical Competency. Must be licensed in the state of Florida. Must have BLS certification through AHA.
