Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department. Facility has 337 licensed beds with no trauma designation. The unit includes 43 beds and 8 clinical decision beds. Average census is 145 patients per day. Patient types include general emergency department population, trauma stabilization, respiratory illness, stroke, behavioral health, acute myocardial infarction, and minor trauma. Patient ages range from pediatric to geriatric. Admission rate is 25-30%. Patient ratios are RN: 1:3-4 based on acuity. CNA will serve as unit coordinator and assist RN with patient care. General emergency department skillset required includes cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with critical care drips, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, and conscious sedation. Dedicated support within the department includes paramedic charge nurse, patient safety attendants, and a pharmacist available during specific hours. Technology includes EMR with EPIC, IV pumps, medication dispensing systems, and patient monitoring systems. Floating may be required to various facilities as needed within the scope of practice.
