We are seeking a candidate with experience in professional practice and design related to land development/community development. This position may be based in Tallahassee, Jacksonville, or Orlando, FloridaThis position will be involved with significant projects, interact with clients and government agencies and effectively working with a team. Responsibilities include design and preparation of site, grading, drainage, erosion control and utility plans as well as design reports. As the capitol city of Florida and the home of two major Universities, Tallahassee offers an affordable and highly livable community within a short distance of some of Florida's most unspoiled coastline.Your Key ResponsibilitiesEngage in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.Utilize AutoCAD / Civil 3D in development of site plans, utility plans and grading plans.Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants.Participate in client project meetings.Assist senior engineers/designers with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.Lead the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents.Perform and oversee the performance of calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.Participate in constructability review.Conduct quality assurance and quality control reviews on projects.Work on multiple projects concurrently.Your Capabilities and Credentials.General understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.Ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies.Excellent time-management skills.Thorough understanding of task assignment and schedule, budgeting, and efficient use of time and resources.Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.Thorough understanding of civil engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant design software, which may include AutoCAD Civil3D, GIS, Hydraflow and ICPR / StormWise.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.6+ years of experience in the profession of Civil Engineering civil/site design.Registered Professional Engineer in Florida or ability to obtain within 6 months.Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work.This description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice.Stantec is a global leader in sustainable engineering, architecture, and environmental consulting.
