Retail Store Manager – Rodanthe, NC Job Summary This position is integral to the overall operation of Kitty Hawk Kites. It maximizes customer and staff satisfaction, maintains company policies and procedures, and communicates changes or issues to the Retail Operations Manager. The manager embodies and promotes the company vision, mission, and values to associates. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operate within KHK Inc. core values, mission, and purpose statement Carefully select and train staff Maintain correct staffing levels during various seasons and holidays Attend appropriate company functions and/or meetings Supervise staff Maintain the store’s clean, safe, and attractive environment Staff schedules Opening & closing reports Payroll reports Sales documentation and reports Marketing reports Budget projections Transfer forms and packing slips Supervise merchandising Maintain stock levels – check if items are back‑stocked or available from another store Ensure daily money deposits Handle maintenance needs and keep the store well‑maintained Assist buyer with feedback and current trends Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four‑year college or university; or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form Working Conditions The work environment is generally indoors in a climate‑controlled setting but occasionally involves outdoor work with natural elements. The noise level is moderate. Physical Requirements About one‑third of the time is spent climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. One‑third to two‑thirds of the time is spent standing, walking, sitting, and reaching. About two‑thirds of the time is spent using hands to finger, handle, or feel, as well as talking or hearing. The manager may lift up to 25 lbs on a regular basis. Vision is required: near, color, peripheral, depth perception and focus adjustment. Additional physical demands may arise from continuous computer work, cash register duties, sales floor activities, events, and mail order work.
