Job Summary Administers prescribed medications and treatments as defined by state regulations 1 to residents and maintains related medical records under supervision of Nurse Supervisor. Residents Rights Ensures that all care is provided in privacy Ensures all protected health information is kept confidential Reports all complaints made by residents to supervisor Reports all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property Safety and Sanitation Follows established safety policies and procedures Observes safety needs of residents as indicated in care plan Wears and/or uses safety equipment and supplies when indicated and properly trained to use Demonstrates job‑specific knowledge of fire and disaster preparedness during drills or actual situations Position Responsibilities Administers prescribed medications and treatments as defined by state regulations in accordance with approved techniques and notes time and amount on resident’s chart. Verifies identity of resident receiving medication and records name of drug, dosage, and time of administration on specified forms and records. Present medication to residents and observes ingestion or other application, or administers medication, using specified procedures. Observes resident, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies Nurse Supervisor or Physician of resident’s condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents. Documents reasons prescribed drugs are not administered and reports to nursing supervisor Records and restocks medication inventories. Prepares equipment and aids physicians during treatments and examination of residents. Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and determines progress of residents. Checks residents in section regularly; Answers call light promptly; Follows through with resident problems or needs by delivering care or reporting to supervisor depending upon level of ability and nature of resident need. Performs any miscellaneous work assignments as may be required. Certified Medication Aide Education Certified as required by state law. Experience Previous experience in long‑term care preferred. Physical Demands Lifting 25 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing 25 pounds; Reaching, handling, feeling, seeing. Working Conditions Inside with well‑lighted, well‑ventilated areas with some exposure to disagreeable conditions. General Requirements Must be able to execute the terms and conditions set forth in the Employee Handbook, including, but not limited to: a. Works in a safety‑conscious manner, which ensures that safe work practices are used in order not to pose a risk to self or others in the workplace. Reports any safety violations or hazards to supervisor b. Complies with company policies and procedures and local, state, and federal regulations c. Adheres to policy on Drug‑Free Workplace d. Interacts in a tactful, diplomatic, and humanistic manner with residents, families, visitors, and co‑workers to provide a safe, efficient, and therapeutically effective caring environment which ensures the self‑respect, personal dignity, rights and physical safety of each resident and center guest e. Maintains a dependable attendance record and adheres to standards of cleanliness, grooming, hygiene, and dress code. f.
