Our five hospitals and eleven clinics provide excellence in our comprehensive services, medical advancement, and overall patient outcomes.ResponsibilitiesEssential FunctionsCoordinates and prioritizes ordered exams.Collaborates and coordinates with medical staff including, but not limited to, physicians, APC's, medical fellows and residents, and other medical staff.Collects medical information and patient histories.Performs cardiac ultrasound exams in accordance to department and overseeing accredited body's outlined protocols and procedures.Participates in the training of echocardiographic techniques and procedures.Cleans and disinfects transesophageal probes and other equipment and decontaminates the exam area.Performs quantitative measurements and calculations of the acquired data and provides preliminary reports.Maintains logs of patient data and files reports.Orders and restocks supplies.Knowledge / Skills / AbilitiesDemonstrated potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.Ability to provide care to the population served.Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development.Ability to assess data regarding the patient's status.Ability to provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.Demonstrated knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology.Demonstrated effective communication and human relation skills.QualificationsRequiredMust meet all eligibility requirements for the Cardiac Sonographer I.Two (2) years of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer.Verified competency in five (5) or more of the following areas:Complex Cardiac Cases (Impella, ECMO, VAD)Structural Heart Cases (TAVR, Mitral Clips, Watchman, ASD/PFO closures)Stress Echo (ESE and DSE)TEEIV Certification and CompetencyBasic Congenital EchoEchos in Cath Lab (ICE and pericardiocentesis)Licenses RequiredCurrent RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.One of the following:Current certification as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through the Cardiovascular Credentialing International.Current certification as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer with an Adult Echocardiography (RDCS-AE) specialty through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).* Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department.Qualifications (Preferred)Working Conditions and Physical DemandsEmployee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation.This position involves intensive work that may exert up to 100 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects, such as medical equipment, or patients while providing medical care.
