Outpatient Licensed Practical Nurse - LPN LVN

Location and Hours Granite City clinic, 1111 Second St. South, Waite Park, MN 56387. Clinic hours: Monday-Saturday 5am-8pm, closed Sunday. Rotating days/shifts, 8-12 hours per day. No previous dialysis experience needed; on-the-job training provided. Purpose and Scope Supports FMCNA's mission, vision, core values, and customer service philosophy. Functions as part of the hemodialysis health care team under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, providing safe and effective dialysis therapy. Principal Responsibilities and Duties Provide direct patient care for assigned patients, perform all technical aspects of dialysis procedures, administer and monitor treatments according to current treatment plans or as directed by the supervisor. Document dialysis treatment parameters on flow sheets and maintain the individual patient record. Report significant changes in patient condition, equipment problems, or other incidents to the supervisor. Assist in developing and implementing teaching plans to educate patients and families on end stage renal disease, dialysis therapy, diet, and medications. Respond to emergency procedures, administer intravenous medication per physician orders, perform CPR measures when necessary. Operate dialysis equipment safely, troubleshoot minor issues, and maintain a clean, sanitary environment. Ensure blood spills are addressed per FMCNA Bloodborne Pathogen Control Policies. Participate in staff meetings, patient care plan meetings, and provide inter‑professional coordination with physicians, dietitians, and social workers. Serve as a resource for other staff and assist with short-term and long-term patient care planning. Provide coverage at area facilities during short-staffing periods or as required. Complete required training courses: Hemodialysis theory and practice, CPR certification, Nurses Technical Training Program. Meet Ishihara Color Blindness test requirements. Physical Demands and Working Conditions Desk and computer work with patient interaction. Heavy lifting and patient transfer; may use equipment or coworkers. Frequent, prolonged standing; ability to bend over. May move or lift equipment up to 200 lbs, water solutions up to 30 lbs. Travel between facilities and community locations; attendance at regional, business unit, and corporate meetings may be required. Work environment may expose to infectious materials. Education and Experience Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing (LPN, LVN). Current state licensure. Preferred: one year medical-surgical nursing experience, hemodialysis or ICU experience. Required: completion of hemodialysis training, CPR certification, and Nurses Technical Training Program.
