Reporting to and with minimal supervision from the Senior Director of ERP Applications and Business Intelligence, the Lead CRM Software Developer provides technical leadership for the development, deployment, and optimization of customer relationship management (CRM) applications across California State University East Bay (CSUEB), San Francisco State University (SFSU), Sonoma State University (SSU), and their auxiliaries. The position leads a team of developers and application administrators, oversees all project phases from requirements to deployment, ensures code quality and compliance, and supports integration with other enterprise systems. The lead collaborates with campus partners and stakeholders to maximize CRM strategic value. Responsibilities Provides technical leadership and champions continuous improvement and modernization of CRM platforms across the Network universities. Coordinates cross-functional development efforts to support the successful completion of complex and high-impact CRM features and initiatives. Leads the CRM software development team in designing, developing, maintaining, and scaling complex CRM applications and solutions. Leads production support, including incident triage, root cause analysis, escalation coordination, technical troubleshooting, and post-incident remediation to ensure system stability and service continuity. Evaluates complex technical requirements and provides expert technical guidance and recommendations regarding application design, priority features, integrations, development approaches, and technical enhancements. Leads and oversees code reviews, testing, and implementation of new releases and ensures development activities are consistent with applicable technical standards, guidelines, and best practices. Stakeholder Engagement and Support Consults with business analysts, product owners, technical teams, and other stakeholders to analyze requirements and recommend appropriate technical solutions. Provides expert technical guidance and support for complex system integration and data migration efforts. Compliance and Documentation Applies and interprets applicable data quality standards, IT controls, technical guidelines, and development standards and recommends new procedures, protocols, and standards as appropriate. Maintains appropriate technical documentation of development activities, system changes, and release information. Minimum Qualifications Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field and five years of relevant experience. Additional experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown below may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Expert knowledge and understanding of software development methodologies and best practices including software and programming languages. Expert knowledge and skill in applying and interpreting applicable standards, guidelines and, as appropriate, recommend new procedures, protocols, and standards. Expert analytical and organizational skills to organize, prioritize, and coordinate the successful completion of large, complex, and strategic software development, and/or system integration or migration projects. Expert communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate complex technical systems and procedures and persuade stakeholders and management regarding design and development options. Preferred Skills and Knowledge Experience working in higher education, multi-campus systems, or similarly complex public sector organizations.
