Responsibilities Responsible for a variety of technical duties necessary to the acquisition of echocardiographic examinations and maintenance of the normal operation of the adult echocardiography laboratory. Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality. Utilizes appropriate imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable). Preparing and/or administering, as applicable, medications or ultrasound enhancing agents through new or existing vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner. Evaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verifies archival storage and/or transfer of data, post processing of data if applicable. Educating and monitoring students and other health care providers. Communicates abnormal and unexpected findings with the provider to prioritize the need for additional testing or urgency of care. Collaborating with a licensed practitioner in the performance of sonographic interventional procedures. Ensuring equipment parameters for diagnostic and interventional procedures are of optimal technical and administrative quality as requested by a licensed practitioner. Performing diagnostic, interventional, sonographic procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner or during appropriate educational activities. Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures. Position Details Hours: Days 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. On Call: Weeknight, Weekend and Holiday rotation required. Details will be discussed during interview process. Certifications Required Upon Hire Graduate from Specialty Training Program Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) as a sonographer or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) certification within 6 months. Adult Echocardiography: ARDMS (AE) or CCI credential. Basic Life Support Certification - Default Issuing Body. Certified Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer within 6 months of hire - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
