About the Role:

The People Business Partner Director will serve as a strategic people advisor to senior leaders across the Technology and Operations organization, partnering closely with senior executives to shape the talent, organization, leadership and workforce strategies that enable business performance and sustainable growth.

The role will translate business priorities into practical, high-impact people strategies, advising leaders on complex organizational and talent matters with sound judgement, commercial understanding, workforce insight and discretion.

This role will lead organization effectiveness, change leadership and workforce planning initiatives that improve decision making, accountability, agility and execution, while working closely with specialist teams across the People organization to deliver integrated solutions.

Success in the role will require executive-level credibility, strong business acumen, data fluency and the ability to influence senior leaders, navigate ambiguity and drive results in a complex, global and rapidly changing organization.

Job Responsibilities

• Partner with senior executives to connect business strategy, operating priorities and people plans across the assigned organization.
• Shape and drive the executive talent agenda, including succession planning, leadership effectiveness, capability development and differentiated talent strategies for critical roles and teams.
• Lead organization design, workforce planning, change leadership and effectiveness initiatives that strengthen decision making, accountability, agility and business performance.
• Use workforce analytics, business insight, market context and sound judgement to identify risks, opportunities and actions that improve performance and organizational health.
• Coach and advise senior leaders through complex performance, leadership, organization and talent decisions with credibility, influence and discretion.
• Act as a connector between the People organization and the business, partnering with specialist teams to deliver integrated solutions and support transformation, integration and M&A activity where relevant.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive HR/People experience, including significant experience in a People Business Partner or HR Business Partner role.
• Demonstrated experience serving as a trusted advisor to senior executive leaders on business-critical people, talent and organizational matters.
• Proven experience advising on organization design, talent strategy, succession planning, workforce planning, leadership effectiveness, and organizational transformation.
• Executive-level business acumen with the ability to connect commercial, operational and people priorities into practical strategies, recommendations and decisions.
• Strong executive coaching and advisory skills, with the credibility to challenge, influence and guide senior leaders through complex and sensitive matters.
• Strong data fluency, with the ability to translate workforce data, business insight and external context into actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
• Experience operating within a complex, matrixed organization.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within a global organization and supporting geographically dispersed teams.
• Experience supporting product and technology organizations, particularly teams developing technology products, with familiarity with the technology development lifecycle.
• Experience leading the people aspects of significant business transformation, integration or M&A activity.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with and work through People Centers of Excellence or specialist HR teams to deliver impactful programs, scalable talent solutions and organization-wide priorities.
• Ability to drive results in ambiguous, rapidly changing environments with significant organizational complexity.

The range below represents Wiley's good faith and reasonable estimate of the base pay for this role at the time of posting roles in the United Kingdom, Canada, USA, Austria, Czechia, Denmark, France, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Romania, or Spain. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall within the range, however the ultimate salary offered for this role may be higher or lower and will be set based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, skills, and competencies.
