EMERGENCY COMMUNICATION SHIFT SUPERVISOR JOB TITLE: Emergency Communications Shift Supervisor CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt DEPARTMENT/DIVISION: Police/Dispatch SUPERVISOR: Deputy Emergency Communications Center Manager Position Summary Under general supervision of the Consolidated Dispatch Center Manager, supervises daily activity of shift personnel for the Consolidated Dispatch Center. Responds to emergency and non-emergency telephone calls for service, identifies and dispatches appropriate emergency units, gathers and relays critical information, documents calls and responses, and complies with department policies and procedures to ensure the safety of personnel and the public. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Four years of experience in police or other emergency services. Must pass a background investigation that meets all local, state, and federal requirements as well as an FBI fingerprint check. Must have never committed, been involved in, or been convicted of a felony or crime of moral turpitude. Must successfully complete a pre-employment physical and psychological exam prior to commencing work. Must successfully complete pre-employment drug screening and subsequent random drug and alcohol screening while employed. Must be able to work on a rotating schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays to ensure 24/7 coverage. Must possess or obtain within first thirty (30) days of employment and maintain a valid New Mexico Class D driver's license. Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain the following licenses and certifications within the given time frame: NCIC certification within six (6) months of date of hire. New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy (NMLEA) Public Safety Telecommunicator certification within one year of employment. Emergency Medical Dispatch Quality Assurance certification within one year of employment. Emergency Fire Dispatch Quality Assurance certification within one year of employment. CPR for the Healthcare Professional within one year of employment. Successful completion of First Line Supervisor course within one year of employment. Successful completion of Communications Training Officer within one year of employment. Successful completion of the County's Need to Know training within one year of employment. Preferred Qualifications Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university. Experience dispatching with Los Alamos Police Department. Supervisory experience. Emergency Medical Dispatch, Emergency Fire Dispatch, CPR for the Healthcare Professional, and NCIC certifications. First Line Supervision training. Emergency Number Professional (EN-P) certification. DOE L or Q clearance. First-line Supervisor Advanced Certification from New Mexico Department of Public Safety (10.29.4.14 NMAC). #J-18808-Ljbffr
