This role emphasizes expertise in developing and validating test solutions for optical systems (TOSA and ROSA, as well as transceivers, optical engines, switches) using advanced optical and high-speed communication test equipment within a large-scale manufacturing environment.The Hardware Test Development Engineer plays a vital role in ensuring the quality and reliability of hardware products, with a particular focus on optical and high-speed communication technologies. You will apply hands-on experience with optical test equipment (fiber passive components, tunable lasers, optical power meters, OSAs) and high-speed communication test systems (SMUs, VNAs, DCAs, BERTs) to support the end-to-end architecture, definition, development, and production deployment of test solutions and manufacturing applications. You will also collaborate closely with internal engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams, as well as end customers, to ensure deliverables meet the rigorous standards required for high-performance optical and datacom products in Jabil’s world-class manufacturing environments .What will you do? –Test System Development: Design and develop test systems and procedures for manufacturing processes. This includes creating test plans, test cases, and test scripts to assess the functionality and performance of hardware components or devices such as motherboard, memory, CPU, storage (SSD, HDD, NVMe) and PCIE devices (NIC, GPU, Mezz cards, RAID cards)Test Software Development: Create, validate, release, and maintain test software and scripts that automate the testing process. This software may include code for controlling test equipment, collecting and analyzing data, and generating test reportsTest Sustaining: Support and maintenance for the manufacturing server (L10) and rack (L11) level test software and infrastructure deployed at our production facilities, including the implementation of minor system configuration changes (new IPNs)Documentation: Maintain comprehensive manufacturing server (L10) and rack (L11) documentation of test procedures, specifications, and InfrastructureCollaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, manufacturing engineers, and quality assurance personnel, to ensure alignment on testing requirements and quality standardsContinuous Learning: Stay updated on the latest advancements in testing technologies, methodologies, and industry best practices to keep manufacturing processes competitive and up to dateDefinition and collaboration on overall test infrastructure and application architecturesEducation:BS degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field is requiredExperience:5-8 years’ experience in a software manufacturing test development/sustaining with enterprise server, storage or networking products is required10+ years of relevant experience in a software manufacturing test development/ sustaining with enterprise server, storage or networking products and some college coursework in lieu of a 4- yr. degree, will be consideredExcellent verbal and written communication skills is required3+ years of product development / test engineering of high-speed optical communication products (TOSA / ROSA / transceiver / optical engine / switches) in the telecom/datacom industry.Hands-on experience with optical test equipment such as optical fiber passive components, tunable lasers, optical power meters, OSAs.Hands-on experience with high-speed communication test equipment such as SMUs, VNAs, DCAs, BERTs.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:Expertise in the following programming/scripting languages: Python, Java, BASH. Arista CloudVision is a plusExperience with code versioning tools (Git preferred)Strong knowledge of professional software engineering practices for the complete software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operationsStrong knowledge of basic optical transmission concepts such as insertion loss, return loss, crosstalk, and RF transmission concepts such S-parameters, modulation efficiency, etc.Strong knowledge of optical communication links, associated component specs, communication link impairments, and test methods.Competency in optics lab work, including optical fiber handling, fiber-optic test bench setup, working in cleanroom environment.Familiarity with fiber connector cleanliness and inspection tools / specs / standards.Competency in test data analysis using JMP / Python / Matlab.Basic understanding of test data statisticsAbility to travel up to 10% globally as requiredPreferred Qualifications:MS preferredExperience working in a multi-site and multi-cultural environments is a plusAdvanced degree in relevant engineering/science fieldDeep understanding of optics and RF test instrument - measurement methods, equipment parameter setup, measurement limitations / noise sources.The pay range for this role is $105,100 - $189,200.
