About the Role

The Company is a national charity dedicated to providing strong foundations for children's life and learning, particularly in communities facing hardship. The organization is now in need of a Trustee with the potential to establish and Chair a People, Culture, and Remuneration Committee. This role is pivotal in supporting the charity's growth and its mission to address the inequalities that impact children's life chances. The successful candidate will work closely with the Board, Chief Executive, and senior leadership team, offering strategic insight and challenge in areas such as organizational design, reward and remuneration, employment law, employee relations, communications, culture, and learning and development. Candidates for the Trustee position should have a background as a senior, strategic People leader, or in strategic HR and/or organizational behavior, with a focus on early years. Experience at a Board level, particularly as a People Director or equivalent, is ideal. The role requires a broad generalist perspective, a thoughtful approach to organizational culture and design, and a technical understanding of the relevant HR areas. While previous charity experience is beneficial, it is not essential. The key attributes sought are a genuine passion for the early years and a commitment to improving outcomes for children, families, and communities. The role is suited to individuals who can balance strategic thinking with practical realities, and who possess strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to provide constructive challenge.
