Cable Technician - Day Shift | Odessa, TX

About the Role
ChampionX is seeking dedicated Cable Technicians to join our Odessa, TX team. As a key player in our electrical operations, you'll work on moderately complex Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) cable builds, repairs, and testing. This role offers a consistent day shift with an 11 days on / 3 days off rotation, ideal for those seeking stable hours and hands-on technical experience in a safety-focused environment.

Responsibilities

- Perform detailed ESP cable builds, repairs, splicing, and high-voltage testing
- Document all testing and repairs accurately
- Operate cable spooling equipment and manage cable logistics
- Troubleshoot basic electrical equipment issues
- Work closely with team members and customers, maintaining professionalism and clear communication
- Uphold stringent safety protocols and use required PPE at all times

Required Skills and Experience

- Basic troubleshooting of electrical equipment
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Competence in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Ability to follow safety guidelines and work under general supervision
- Effective planning, time management, and customer service mindset
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in varying indoor/outdoor conditions
- Willingness to undergo safety training and drug testing

Preferred Skills

- Basic electrical background
- Experience operating a forklift
- Mechanical aptitude (automotive, diesel, shop, or mechanical experience)
- Prior experience with ESP cable installation or repairs (1+ year preferred, not required)
- Strong safety mindset; safety-sensitive role

Benefits

- Competitive base pay: $20-$23/hr, depending on experience
