Pay/Schedule $70,000 - $95,000 Annually – Dependent on experience 3rd Shift (Overnights): Sunday - Thursday from 10:15pm until 6:15am Under general supervision and following established procedures, the 3rd Shift Production Supervisor is responsible for providing Supervision and coordinating daily work activities for assigned Plant Operations employees. All job responsibilities are to be performed in strict adherence with the Company’s Mission/Values Statement and in accordance with established standards for external customers as well as internal customers. Partial Position Summary ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING. OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED. Responsible for providing day-to-day work direction and communication of production specifications, and job orders to direct reports, and assigns duties. Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of machines. Manages and studies workflow, work orders, machine capacity, and production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment. Communicates company policies to workers and enforces company safety policies and ensures compliance with OSHA rules and regulations. Provides technical assistance/oversight, insight and troubleshooting to Machine Operators/Leads. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew. Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists direct reports in solving work problems. Conducts periodic performance evaluations for direct reports and recommends adjustments in compensation in accordance with Company policy in a timely and efficient manner. Participate in hiring, training and development of staff members as necessary to ensure optimum levels of staffing at all times. Establish and maintain a "Team Atmosphere". Conduct staff meetings as required. Initiates performance management, corrective action and/or suggests plans to motivate direct reports to achieve plant operations goals. Maintains time and production records. Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials and equipment. Confers with other Supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments. Responsible for employee development and coaching. Trains or arranges training for new employees and cross training for existing employees. Establish and maintain a "Team Atmosphere". Performs a variety of miscellaneous job-related tasks that may be assigned by a management representative from time to time. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Develops policies and procedures to achieve Great Northern objectives. Attends production and fulfillment planning meetings, special projects meetings, and Company functions. Remains current on changes in policies, procedures, and product information. Attends authorized training programs and seminars. Ensures compliance with established policies and procedures. Assists and provides leadership for Great Northern’s efforts in World Class Manufacturing. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and a minimum of 2 - 3 years’ supervisory experience. College degree is a plus. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with customers, and the ability to convey a positive and professional image of service and support to employees at all levels of responsibility in the Company. Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills required particularly in oral format. Ability to lead and develop employees. Ability to delegate responsibility when appropriate. Ability to read English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures, manuals and order specifications. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of Managers, clients, customers, and employees. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage. Ability to troubleshoot, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to use Microsoft Office software (Word, Outlook, and Excel spreadsheet applications). Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
