Job Title: Process Sustaining Engineer Job Description

The Process Sustaining Engineer supports manufacturing operations by providing hands-on technical expertise for production equipment and manufacturing processes. This role focuses on troubleshooting electromechanical issues, maintaining process stability, improving equipment performance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The engineer works closely with production, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to ensure efficient, reliable, and compliant manufacturing operations within a regulated environment.

• Troubleshoot and resolve electromechanical equipment and process issues to support continuous production.
• Support manufacturing operations by maximizing equipment uptime and ensuring reliable performance.
• Identify root causes of equipment and process problems and implement effective corrective actions.
• Drive process and equipment improvement initiatives to enhance stability, reliability, and efficiency.
• Provide hands-on technical problem solving on the production floor to support day-to-day operations.
• Maintain accurate documentation and technical records of troubleshooting activities, corrective actions, and process changes.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to coordinate support and improvements.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality requirements while performing equipment and process work.
• Support continuous improvement projects that drive measurable business results in manufacturing performance and product quality.
• Contribute to equipment maintenance, validation, and reliability efforts in a regulated manufacturing environment.

• Hands-on experience troubleshooting electromechanical manufacturing equipment in a production environment.
• Demonstrated ability to support day-to-day production operations and equipment uptime.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills for complex manufacturing equipment.
• Proven capability to identify root causes of equipment and process issues and implement corrective actions.
• Experience maintaining process stability and supporting equipment reliability in manufacturing.
• Ability to document activities clearly and maintain accurate technical records.
• Experience working within a regulated manufacturing environment, such as medical device, diagnostics, pharmaceutical, or related industries.
• Strong ability to prioritize multiple tasks and production needs in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective collaboration skills for working with manufacturing, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey technical information clearly.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline is preferred.
• Experience supporting manufacturing equipment and production processes.
• Experience with automation systems and equipment interfaces is preferred.
• Familiarity with PLCs and automation systems in a manufacturing setting.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
• Exposure to Six Sigma practices and process improvement tools is beneficial.
• Experience with equipment validation in a regulated environment is advantageous.
• Entry-level engineers with strong hands-on technical aptitude will be considered.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
• Interest in developing technical expertise and advancing engineering skills within a growing manufacturing organization.

This role is based in a manufacturing environment that supports machine maintenance and production operations. The position is highly hands-on, involving frequent equipment troubleshooting, process support, and participation in continuous improvement activities on the production floor. The engineer collaborates closely with manufacturing, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams in a fast-paced, regulated setting. The schedule follows a first shift (6:00 AM – 2:30 PM), with a strong emphasis on safety, product quality, equipment reliability, and operational efficiency. The environment offers exposure to complex manufacturing equipment, automation systems, and process improvement projects that directly impact business performance and product outcomes.

This is a Contract position based out of Carlsbad, CA.

The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $37.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
