Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled, hands-on Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance operations within a fast-paced envelope printing and converting manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in envelope converting equipment, offset and flexographic printing systems, industrial electrical controls, and plant support systems, with specific experience supporting Jet presses and F.L. Smithe RA converting equipment strongly preferred.

This role is responsible for maximizing equipment reliability, uptime, and production efficiency through preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs. The Maintenance Manager will lead maintenance personnel, troubleshoot complex equipment failures, coordinate capital improvement projects, manage vendor relationships, and partner closely with production leadership to support operational performance objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all maintenance operations for a high-volume envelope printing and converting facility.

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve Jet envelope presses, F.L. Smithe RA converting equipment, offset printing systems, flexographic equipment, and associated finishing systems.

• Support envelope folding, gumming, patching, windowing, sealing, and ancillary production equipment.

• Develop preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.

• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, PLC, HMI, VFD, servo, pneumatic, hydraulic, vacuum, glue, registration, and web handling issues.

• Conduct root cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions.

• Manage maintenance budgets, vendors, contractors, spare parts inventory, and CMMS documentation.

• Lead maintenance team development and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Ensure OSHA, LOTO, machine guarding, and electrical safety compliance.

Required Qualifications

• 7–10 years industrial maintenance experience in printing, envelope converting, packaging, or related manufacturing.

• 3–5 years maintenance leadership experience.

• Strong troubleshooting experience with high-speed manufacturing equipment.

• Hands-on experience with industrial electrical systems, PLCs, VFDs, servo systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and automation controls.

• Strong working knowledge of 480V 3-phase industrial power systems and controls.

• Ability to read electrical schematics, ladder logic, OEM manuals, and wiring diagrams.

• Experience with PM/PdM systems and CMMS.

Required Electrical / Safety Competencies

• NFPA 70E electrical safety knowledge.

• OSHA hazardous energy control (LOTO) competency.

• Industrial electrical troubleshooting competency.

• Working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, automation controls, servo systems, VFD troubleshooting, and industrial sensor systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct envelope manufacturing experience.

• F.L. Smithe RA converting equipment experience.

• Jet envelope press maintenance experience.

• Offset and flexographic press maintenance experience.

• Journeyman or Master Electrician license or equivalent industrial electrical apprenticeship.

• Allen-Bradley / Rockwell automation experience.

• ISA CCST or equivalent controls training.

• Infrared thermography certification.

• NEC code knowledge and industrial electrical compliance experience.

• Lean Manufacturing / TPM / reliability-centered maintenance experience.

• Candidates with exceptional envelope converting equipment experience and demonstrated technical troubleshooting expertise may be considered in lieu of certain formal certifications.

Education

Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent hands-on experience in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or Industrial Automation.
