Acute Medicine Student Nurse Tech (Unit 5400) PRN

Acute Care Medicine provides patients with a full range of clinical issues—from significant blood dyscrasias, advanced endocrine pathology, heart and renal failure, GI conditions, infectious diseases, asthma and a multitude of other conditions and diseases. Due to the patient acuity on the nursing division, we provide advanced training to bring new nurses to the highest level of functioning. Each unit is led by a clinical manager and lead charge nurse, supported by an advanced practice nurse, and an interdisciplinary team of case manager, social worker, physical therapist, dietitian, and pharmacist. This multidisciplinary team works in conjunction with the physicians, nurses and patient care technicians to provide quality patient care. PRN Requirements To maintain PRN employment status requires working 24 hours every six weeks. Responsibilities Assists nurse with patient and family education. Documents all patient care activities provided with correct medical terminology. Acts as 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary. Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient’s needs. Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nursing team. Collects clinical data and information on patients and reports abnormal findings to the nurse. Instructs patients in preparations for tests and procedures. Minimum Requirements Current enrollment in an accredited nursing program. Completion of a foundational nursing skills course or equivalent (fundamentals, foundations, or adult/peds health). Education: Enrolled‑accredited RN program. Experience: No experience. Supervisor Experience: No experience. Preferred Requirements Education: Enrolled‑accredited BSN program.
