Mechanical Engineer - Buildings

Responsibilities Develop mechanical designs for buildings, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems. Lead the planning, design, and commissioning of building HVAC and plumbing systems. Lead whole building energy modeling and sustainability requirements reporting. Coordinate with other support disciplines and regional offices. Assist project managers with project management and follow quality assurance and control plans. Travel periodically to project sites. Qualities and Attributes Knowledge of mechanical engineering and sustainability principles. Mentor and train technical staff. Interface with clients on project design, delivery, and construction. Manage project budget and schedule compliance. Oversee mechanical design of building projects throughout the lifecycle from concept through construction. Utilize BIM design software to produce construction drawings. Use Microsoft Excel for design calculations. Manage multiple assignments concurrently. Maintain time management and product quality. Follow quality assurance and quality control plans. Engage in continuing education and learning related to project needs. Requirements Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or architectural engineering with a mechanical focus from an ABET‑accredited university or college. Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam. 5‑10 years of building design and construction industry experience. Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles related to building mechanical designs. Proven experience overseeing mechanical designs, including detailed plans and specifications for building projects. Technical competence in building mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems. Strong communication skills. Experience with Autodesk Revit. Proficiency with MS Office Suite. Preferred Skills Licensed Professional Engineer. Experience with AIA MasterSpec. Knowledge of Federal Agency design criteria.
