Controller Location: Des Moines, IA (On site - Hybrid) Job Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire A rapidly growing Iowa based company in the Des Moines area is seeking an experienced Controller to lead and scale its accounting and financial reporting functions. This is a highly visible, hands on leadership role responsible for both executing day-to-day accounting operations and building the financial infrastructure needed to support a capital intensive, high growth business. You’ll work directly with the CEO and executive team while leading a team of two accounting professionals. Key Responsibilities Lead all accounting operations including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and fixed assets Own month end, quarter end, and year end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness Prepare and deliver financial statements and internal management reporting Oversee cost accounting, including infrastructure, energy usage, and equipment depreciation Develop and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures for compliance and scalability Partner with executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial strategy Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and financing in a capital intensive environment Evaluate and implement accounting systems and process improvements Build, mentor, and lead a high performing accounting team Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred) 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility Experience in manufacturing, energy, or other asset heavy industries preferred Strong knowledge of financial reporting and internal controls Experience with ERP systems, QuickBooks, and advanced Excel skills Proven ability to operate in a fast paced, evolving environment Strong analytical, communication, and leadership capabilities Compensation & Benefits Base Salary: $140,000–$180,000 (DOE) Bonus opportunity Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match Paid Time Off + Holidays Why This Role Join a privately owned, growth focused company where you’ll have direct access to decision makers and the autonomy to shape the accounting function.
