Our goal is to be the industry’s best source, and best value, for complete turn-key construction, engineering and design-build services and related products.Notable public and private sector clients include major transportation authorities in Los Angeles, New York, and Seattle; Gateway Development Commission; public works authorities in New York, Los Angeles, and Vancouver; Federal agencies; and mining clients for gold, copper, potash, salt, and coal.Extraordinary Projects, Exceptional PerformanceDESCRIPTION:As a Senior Civil / Structural Engineering Designer at Frontier-Kemper, you will have the opportunity to be responsible for independently developing, coordinating, and leading civil and structural design efforts for mining, heavy industrial, and heavy civil infrastructure projects. This position utilizes advanced computer-aided design and modeling software to prepare site layouts, 3D models, construction drawings, fabrication details, and design packages.Develop and lead civil and structural design packages using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Advanced Steel, Navisworks, and related design software.Prepare site layouts, grading plans, access roads, underground utility layouts, drainage plans, and construction drawings for mining and heavy civil projects.Develop detailed steel and concrete construction drawings and fabrication packages.Create and review structural steel models, connection details, reinforced concrete details, and construction sequencing layouts.Coordinate designs with engineers, project managers, clients, vendors, and construction personnel.Lead CAD modeling and drawing production efforts while ensuring compliance with company and project standards.Perform interdisciplinary design reviews and identify conflicts, constructability issues, and opportunities for improvement.Take ownership of assigned projects and proactively develop solutions to design and field challenges.Direct, coordinate, and mentor junior designers and drafters to ensure quality and schedule performance.Maintain, improve, and enforce drafting, modeling, and engineering standards.Support field investigations, site visits, and construction activities as required.REQUIREMENTS:Highschool diploma or GED is requiredAssociate degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field is preferred but not requiredMinimum 8+ years of civil/structural design experience supporting industrial, mining, or heavy civil projects.Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, and/or Advanced Steel required.Demonstrated experience with structural steel detailing and reinforced concrete detailing.Experience supporting surface mining, underground mining, tunneling, shaft, conveyor, processing facility, or other heavy industrial infrastructure projects preferred.Experience developing mining site layouts, civil site development plans, tunnel layouts, or similar large-scale infrastructure projects highly desirable.Strong understanding of applicable steel and concrete design codes, standards, and detailing practices.Proven ability to lead projects, coordinate teams, and provide technical direction to other designers.OUR MISSIONWe build critical infrastructure that creates a better world.OUR VISIONWe strive to be the preeminent full-service civil, building, and specialty contractor by delivering innovative, transformative projects through world-class execution.
