Job Description

Reports to the Engineering Manager and is responsible for the direct supervision of the Tool and Die department, supports design and development of gauges, tools, jigs, dies and fixtures utilized in the manufacturing of product and for quoting. Identifies and informs superior of area problems and possible solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities

I. Responsible for overseeing personnel in constructing, maintaining, and modifying dies, machines and tooling.

II. Takes part in development, adjustment, and constructing of tools, dies and machines.

III. Responsible for personnel and day-to-day operations of the tool and die department.

IV. Uses problem-solving abilities to support production and maintenance departments.

V. Support all company goals.

Employment Standards

Education/Experience: At least 10 years’ experience in a related field. Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance. Possess journeyman Tool and Die certificate or similar education.

Knowledge: Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures. Sound knowledge of Tool and Die design. Knowledge and use of all machines and equipment used in making dies, jigs and fixtures. Principles and techniques of organization administration, budget, supervision, training and performance evaluations.

Skills: Developing and maintaining accurate records and reports; effective use of time and materials to ensure quality parts to the customer on time; analyzing and independently solving process problems; interpersonal communications verbally and in writing, with a diverse range of people; maintaining effective business relations with other departments and customers.
