Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PMCompensation

• $65–$74/hour

On-Call Requirements

• One weeknight per week from 5:00 PM–9:00 PM
• Approximately one weekend every six weeks
• Weekend coverage primarily involves monitoring email and ensuring requests are addressed before Sunday

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Conflicts Staff Attorney for a six-month temporary assignment with a large law firm. This position will be responsible for conducting and analyzing conflict-of-interest searches, supporting new client and matter intake, assisting with conflict clearance, and helping ensure compliance with applicable Rules of Professional Conduct.

The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctor (JD) and prior experience conducting substantive conflicts analysis within a large law firm environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct and analyze conflicts database searches for prospective clients, new matters, and existing clients.
• Identify and evaluate potential conflict-of-interest issues and communicate findings to attorneys.
• Assist intake attorneys with clearing potential conflicts by coordinating with attorneys responsible for prior or existing matters.
• Research conflict-of-interest issues in accordance with applicable Rules of Professional Conduct.
• Assist with drafting conflict waivers involving current or former clients.
• Support new client, new matter, lateral attorney, and other business intake processes.
• Conduct specialized conflicts searches related to lateral hires, attorney relationships, potential mergers, and other firm initiatives.
• Participate in training attorneys and staff on conflict screening and new client/new matter intake procedures.
• Participate in scheduled on-call coverage for time-sensitive conflicts checks and new business intake requests.
• Assist with special projects involving conflicts, risk management, and business intake.
• Provide additional administrative and departmental support as needed.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) required.
• 3+ years of attorney-level conflicts analysis experience within a large law firm environment highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of conflict-of-interest rules and applicable Rules of Professional Conduct .
• Experience analyzing and helping resolve complex conflicts issues.
• Ability to communicate effectively with attorneys regarding conflicts analysis and approval processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys and professional staff.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office required.
• Experience with Intapp Open or similar conflicts/new business intake technology preferred.
