School Nurse (Licensed Practical Nurse)

Job Description

Jessie Trice Community Health System, in partnership with Miami Dade Public Schools and The Children’s Trust are seeking to hire full- time talented, hard- working and customer service friendly LPNs ( Licensed Practical Nurse) to join our inter- disciplinary team. Individuals will provide services to students in our elementary, K-8 centers, middle and high schools.

Summary of Responsibilities:

\n

\n

Provides technical and administrative support, non-clerical and clerical health care assistance, and health screenings, including vision , and other age-appropriate screenings as part of School -Based Program Team which includes a nurse, social worker, administrative assistant and community health worker. LPN will provide the following:

\n

Provide direct care to patients , triage, take vital signs and provide medication treatment.

\n

First Aid and emergency care for acutely ill children of various ages.

\n

Immunization administration and follow-ups

\n

State mandated screenings such as Body Mass Index ( BMI) Vision and Oral Health.

\n

Coordinate the care for students , make referrals and record keeping

\n

Prevent, identify and manage health related issues among students

\n

Provide consultation services to students and their families on health-related issues and health teaching.

\n

Serve as a liaison and advocate for children focusing on the organization mission

\n

\n

Details of Education and Skills:

\n

Graduate of an accredited LPN program/school

\n

Ability to maintain and comply with all professional licensure requirements including an active Florida LPN license

\n

1 Year clinical experience minimum with knowledge of the clinical needs of students enrolled in Miami-Dade County Public School (MDCPS).

\n

Strong oral and written communication skills

\n

Ability to work and communicate with diverse groups and individuals, independently or as part of a group.

\n

One or more years of experience within hospital setting preferred
