Skills TrainerSkills Trainers work up to 16 hours per week in a 1:1 setting assisting an individual with developmental disabilities in participating in normative home and community-based activities. The goal of the skills trainer is to work with the individual to increase their daily, independent, and community living skills. This may include personal hygiene tasks, meal preparation, chores, money management, using the library, making a purchase at a store, or participating in a community activity such as swimming or using a gym. We're currently seeking Skills Trainers in several local communities.At Advocates, we provide comprehensive services for people facing developmental, mental health, or other life challenges.We're a nonprofit, mission-driven organization with a person-centered approach, empowering the individuals we support to make choices, build independence, and live full, meaningful lives.Our work is rooted in respect, compassion, and inclusion, and we envision a world where individual differences are appreciated and celebrated.At Advocates, we value the ideas, experiences, and contributions of every employee and are committed to fostering a supportive, welcoming culture where people can learn, grow, and make a meaningful impact.Minimum Education RequiredHigh School Diploma/GEDAdditional Shift Details- Marlborough 8hrs/wk at $25/hr - South End 15/hrs/wk at $25/hr - Marlborough 4hrs/wk at $25/hr - Sherborn 14hrs/wk at $28/hr – looking for BCBA experience - Sudbury 5-10hrs/wk at $42/hr - Framingham 9hrs/wk at $25/hr - Framingham 7hrs/wk at $25/hr - Sudbury, 20-30hrs/wk at $32/hrQualificationsBachelor's Degree in special education or psychology or related field or HS diploma or equivalent and 2 years of relevant experience in working on skills development with individuals with developmental disabilities including individuals that are blind or visually impaired.Basic computer knowledge. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and ability to use good judgment.Demonstrated commitment to the principles and practices of individual empowerment and community integration.Sensitivity to the needs of the population we support. High energy level, superior interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a team atmosphere.Must hold a valid driver's license.
