Estimator II - Electrical

Spire Solutions is hiring an Estimator II – Electrical to join our team in Des Moines, IA! The Estimator II will support the estimating team by preparing complete portions of an electrical estimate for construction projects. This role will provide quantity surveying, pricing, bid solicitation, compile cost history, and preparing system comparisons. Our employees play a direct role in shaping solutions, driving efficiency, and delivering real value on every project.What You’ll Do:Read and analyze technical plans/specifications and assist team by incorporating those requirements in the estimateProduce reliable, complete, consistent, well-documented, and timely quantity surveys of assigned itemsGenerate design development estimates, providing quantities and components based on incomplete plans and specifications. Assist in the development of complete project quantities based upon schematic level plans and elevationsConduct organized sub and vendor solicitation while accurately communicating the required scope of workEnsure complete trade coverage is obtained and advise project lead of potential solicitation shortfallsAssist in the preparation of bid-day spreadsheets and detailed proposal tabulation sheets (Bid Tickets), including any custom client cost breakdown/schedule of valuesAssist in projecting pricing based on historical data and adjusting pricing as needed to allow for project conditionsReview trade proposals and scope letters as received to identify gaps and overlaps in scope of workPrepare the final estimate for rollover to the job cost accounting system, adjusted to meet project team's needs for cost managementPrepare cost analysis reports and be mindful of value analysis opportunities throughout the estimating processWhat We’re Looking For:Experience:2+ years of experience as an estimator in the construction industryExperience with electrical estimates is highly preferredDegree in a construction-related field is desiredSkills:Analytical with a high level of accuracyStrong mathematical skillsFlexibility to balance competing needs with tight timeframesQuick learnerHigh level of initiative and problem-solving skillsDetail-oriented and highly organizedExcellent verbal and written communication skillsTechnology:Proficient in basic computer software including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OutlookExperience with Procore and Bluebeam is a plusAbility to learn specific job-related software upon hireWhat We Offer: Competitive PayRewarding Bonus ProgramComprehensive Benefits Package with Tax-Advantaged HSA and FSA offeringsEmployer-Paid Short- and Long-Term Disability ProgramsEmployer-Paid Life InsuranceGenerous Paid Time Off Provisions401(k) Retirement Savings Plan with Company MatchTuition ReimbursementFully Paid Parental LeaveVoluntary Products Including: Critical Illness Insurance and Accident InsuranceCorporate Wellness Program with Wellness Time Off and RewardsVisa sponsorship is not available for this position at this time.
