Description

American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant for an Acute Care/Swingbed unit, requiring 2+ years of experience and current PTA licensure.

Details

• Acute Care/Swingbed unit in a Level IV Trauma Center and Chest Pain Center facility
• 25-bed unit with an average census of 25 and 7-8 patients per therapist per day
• Patient population is mostly geriatric with diagnoses including COPD, CHF, hip fracture, total joints, CABG, stroke, Parkinson's, medically complex cases, debility, respiratory failure, and spinal/abdominal surgeries
• Uses EPIC EMR and Omnicell for medication dispensing
• Unit equipment includes Hoyer and Hoyer Journey lifts, modality tower, Bio Step, Motomed, parallel bars, kitchen and practice tub, and washer/dryer for rehab training
• Day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, typically 0800-1700
• No weekend rotation, on-call, holiday coverage, or floating requirements

Requirements

• Active state PTA license required, if applicable
• Current BLS certification required
• Associate's degree or higher required
• Minimum 2 years of experience, acute care, SNF, LTC, or rehab settings accepted
• Skills in transfer training, gait training, home management, discharge planning, and therapeutic exercise required
• Strong documentation skills and clinical judgement regarding medical situations required
• One professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

• Team-oriented unit culture with strong collaboration between therapy and nursing staff
• Orientation includes NEO and 5 shifts of unit-specific orientation
• Light gray scrub color required
• Free on-site parking available
• First-time travelers will be considered for this role
• No radius rule applies for local candidates within Georgia, who receive the same rate as travelers
• Candidates must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position there
• RTO requests must be approved through the unit manager
