Job Description Summary MUSC Children’s Health After Hours Care Nexton is a pediatric outpatient clinic that falls under the Shawn Jenkin’s Children’s Hospital at MUSC. During the day, we host a variety of pediatric subspecialists such as pediatric pulmonary, GI, endocrinology, ENT, and cardiology only to name a few. In addition to that, we provide a walk‑in After Hours Care, which is a direct extension of our pediatric emergency department to serve our community during the hours when most pediatricians are closed. This is a fulltime RN position that will work in the pediatric specialty clinic Monday‑Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Job Description The Ambulatory Clinic RN Lead I reports to the Ambulatory Service Manager. Under general supervision, the Clinic Lead Nurse provides individualized, goal‑directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired outcomes. The Clinic Lead Nurse works in coordination with the nursing leadership. This position ensures the achievement of optimal evidence‑based patient care and department goals through efficient daily operations and compliance with established rules, regulations and guidelines. The Clinic Lead Nurse assists with providing leadership presence and staff support. Minimum Education Required Associate’s Degree of Nursing required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree preferred. RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date. Refer to policy A141 for more details. Minimum Experience Required Minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse required. Previous Ambulatory experience preferred. License/Certification: Current South Carolina licensure as a registered nurse or compact state required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. (Infrequent) Ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force. (Frequent) Examples: To transfer a 100 lb. patient that can not assist in the transfer requires 50 lbs. of force. For every 100 additional pounds, assistance will be required from another healthcare worker. 20 lbs. of force is needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet. 25 lbs. of force is required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand. Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate between colors. (Continuous) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception. (Continuous) Good peripheral vision capabilities. (Continuous) Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction.
