ABOUT NORTHWEST WINE ACCOUNTING

Northwest Wine Accounting is a 100% remote accounting firm specializing in the wine industry. We provide outsourced servicess tailored to the unique needs of small wineries, from bookkeeping through controller-level support. Our mission is to serve as a full accounting department for our clients, helping them navigate the complexities of the industry with confidence.

THE ROLE

In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting for a small portfolio of 5-8 winery clients. Rather than juggling dozens of clients, you’ll have the opportunity to get to know each business well and build lasting relationships with the people you serve.

You will work closely with an experienced Controller who will review your work, answer technical questions, and help you grow in your role.

Success in this role means your clients feel well cared for, deadlines are met consistently, and your accounting work is accurate, thorough, and reliable.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Serve as the primary day-to-day accounting contact for your clients
- Communicate with clients regarding day-to-day accounting questions and outstanding items
- Code transactions based on business documents
- Manage accounts payable, pay bills, and assist clients with cash management
- Process payroll
- Record and reconcile sales from multiple sales channels
- Prepare sales tax filings
- Prepare monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Collaborate with Client Controllers to resolve accounting issues
- Maintain accurate documentation
- Work efficiently in multiple cloud accounting platforms

- Comfortable navigating the ever-changing landscape of accounting technology

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:
- Relevant accounting education and/or professional accounting experience
- Experience with QuickBooks Online
- Experience with the monthly accounting cycle, inlcuding bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and month-end close
- Strong Excel skills, including Excel Tables, SUMIF, XLOOKUP, and PivotTables

Preferred:
- Experience with BILL, Ramp, Dext, Gusto, or similar cloud accounting applications
- Winery accounting or winery operations experience
- Located in Washington or Oregon

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

- Salary $65,000-$80,000 depending on experience
- Full-time (part-time may be considered)
- 100% remote
