As part of ScionHealth, Vaughan combines system strength with strong local impact so that you can make your mark where your work truly matters.Job SummaryThe Clinical Dietitian is responsible for the nutritional assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for patients in a hospital setting. Works closely with physicians, nursing, and food service staff to ensure that patients receive appropriate nutrition therapy. Provides education and guidance on therapeutic diets, manages special dietary needs, and participates in performance improvement initiatives.Essential FunctionsConduct comprehensive nutrition assessments and reassessments on all patientsDevelop, implement, and monitor individualized nutrition care plansCollaborate with interdisciplinary teams in patient care planningDocument patient care activities in medical records per facility policyProvide patient and family education on nutrition and dietary managementConduct meal rounds and ensure patients' nutritional needs are metReview and approve therapeutic menus and substitutions for accuracyEnsure adherence to food safety and infection control standardsParticipate in quality assurance and performance improvement activitiesAssist with staff education and training related to therapeutic dietsParticipate in survey readiness and assist with inspections as neededKnowledge/Skills/Abilities/ExpectationsKnowledge of clinical nutrition guidelines and medical nutrition therapyStrong interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to analyze clinical data and apply to patient careFamiliarity with EMR systems and basic office softwareAbility to manage time effectively and prioritize responsibilitiesCapacity to work collaboratively across departments and disciplinesDemonstrates cultural sensitivity and advocates for patient preferencesQualificationsEducationBachelor's Degree from an accredited program in dietetics, nutrition or related field (Required)Licenses/CertificationsRegistered Dietitian (RD) with the Commission on Dietetic RegistrationState licensure or certification as required by lawMust maintain BLS certification as required by facilityExperienceTwo years of clinical experience in an acute care hospital preferredExperience with nutrition support and disease-specific nutrition interventions is highly desirableProvisional Dietitians may practice under supervision if permitted by state regulations
