Public Service Officer Part-time

The Village of Barrington Police Department is seeking qualified candidates for the part- time position of Public Service Officer (PSO). This civilian, uniformed role plays a vital support function within the department, assisting with non-criminal law-enforcement duties and helping ensure the safety and well-being of the community. Scheduled hours are Monday through Friday, 2:45 -6:45 p.m. Responsibilities Enforcement of parking ordinances Animal control Crossing guard duties Enforcement of Village ordinances Directing traffic May staff the front desk Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage stressful situations Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn Village ordinances and Police Department procedures Valid Illinois driver's license Proficiency with basic computer systems and Microsoft Office applications Familiarity with law-enforcement related documents and procedures Experience in customer service or public interaction roles (preferred) Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds regularly and more than 50 pounds occasionally Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and potential exposure to hazardous or high-stress environments #J-18808-Ljbffr Barrington, Village of (IL)
