The Retail General Manager will lead and oversee a large team of 16 or more staff at a dynamic store specializing in general merchandise, clothing and apparel, electronics, and specialty goods. This role focuses on achieving store-wide revenue goals through effective team leadership, operational management, and customer engagement to ensure a seamless and profitable retail experience.
Responsibilities
- Hire, train, and develop retail staff to build a high-performing team
- Manage daily cash handling and paperwork processes
- Plan and execute advertising and merchandising strategies
- Oversee ordering, receiving, and inventory management
- Create staff schedules and lead regular team meetings
- Drive sales by setting and monitoring store-wide revenue targets
- Maintain store cleanliness and organization to enhance customer experience
- Foster a positive workplace culture and promote team development
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of retail management experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent with relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Forklift certification is helpful
- Experience in retail operations and inventory control
- Proficiency in cash management and staff training
- Ability to develop and implement sales strategies
- Strong customer service and leadership skills
- Familiarity with scheduling software
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
