Position Summary The Medical Office Assistant prepares for patient visits by retrieving and organizing patient data, and communicating needs -with provider and care team. Updates patient records to reflect their most up-to-date health metrics and appointments. Provides direct patient care including but not limited to: Rooming patients Recording of vital signs to include: height, weight, temperature, blood pressure (manual or automatic), oxygen saturation, and heart rate. Collect specimens and responsible for other point of care testing as required by office location and patient need. Recording and documenting a patient’s reason for visit, medications, and medical history. Assists provider with exams and procedures as needed. Assures exam rooms are stocked and supplied appropriately. Answers telephones and responds according to patient need. Provides patient teaching with provider guidance. Follows through with patient referrals, completes authorizations, and determines eligibility as needed. Demonstrates organizational mission and values with all patient interactions.
