Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in ICU License: WA or Compact License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required; CRRN, PCCN preferred Must-Have: Minimum of 2 years ICU experience; management of Swans, Prismaflex CRRT, IABP, and immediate open heart recovery preferred Description: The position involves working on a mixed ICU unit with both medical and cardiovascular patients. There are 24 beds in the unit, with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 for ICU level acuity and 1:3-4 for PCU level acuity. Common diagnoses include sepsis, COPD, Covid, pneumonia, withdrawal, strokes post TNK administration, CRRT, IABP, and impella management. Candidates are expected to titrate drips, including sedation, vasoactive medications, and paralytics. There will be a charge nurse and resource nurse available on every shift. The unit operates with CNAs at a 1:12 ratio and has support from in-house hospitalists or intensivists available 24/7. A dedicated pharmacist is present until 11 PM, with house pharmacy support thereafter. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7 dedicated to the ICU. Nurses are responsible for setting up, managing, and interpreting monitors and their strips. Shifts are self-scheduled for six weeks at a time, with the manager reviewing and adjusting as needed. Weekend work will be based on unit demands, and holiday coverage rotates among staff. Floating may occur between different floors or to the emergency room for patient holds. Professional color scrubs are required for dress code. Candidates should possess a flexible and team-oriented mentality.
