Description:

The Ultrasound Technician is a graduate of an accredited AMA school. The candidate must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT). They must maintain a State License as a general radiographer. They should be a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS). The Ultrasound Technician is responsible for providing timely diagnostic services to both inpatients and outpatients. This is done under the direction of a Radiologist and following departmental protocols. Responsibilities include abdominal and pelvic sonograms, including gynecological and obstetrical procedures. Additionally, proficiency in small parts scanning (thyroid, breast, scrotum) is required. The technician must also be skilled in performing ultrasound-guided biopsies, drainage, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and aspirations.
