Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited university‑based program. Licenses/Certifications: Current or temporary license to practice Physical Therapy by the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners or the Physical Therapy Compact Commission. Current certification in Basic Life Support. A physical therapist practicing direct access: Education: Doctoral degree with a residency or fellowship program, or licensed therapist with 30 hours of continuing competence activities in differential diagnosis. Licenses/Certifications: Current license to practice Physical Therapy by the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners or the Physical Therapy Compact Commission. Experience / Knowledge / Skills Occasional/frequent pushing and lifting 75–100 pounds, carrying up to 30 pounds; prolonged standing; frequent walking, stooping, and squatting. Fine hand dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, oral and written communication skills. Visual ability to monitor instruments, computers, and equipment; recognize alphanumeric characters, distinguish colors, and observe physical characteristics. Principal Accountabilities Assume responsibility in the care of patients; perform complete, comprehensive evaluations, interpret findings, develop written plans of care, set goals, and implement comprehensive programs. Provide basic physical therapy treatments, demonstrate competency in basic skills, and supervise assistants and rehabilitation technicians. Monitor progress and adjust plans as needed. Motivate patients and caregivers using appropriate methods. Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, physicians, and insurance companies. Present relevant professional literature at meetings, conferences, and university settings as delegated. Manage time effectively and document accurately in the medical record. Ensure safe care for patients, staff, and visitors; uphold policies, procedures, budgets, and quality of service. Promote professional growth by meeting mandatory and continuing education requirements and supporting departmental goals.
