Practical Nursing (PN) Clinical Supervisor (Part-Time Lab/Clinical Instructor)

The primary task of clinical supervisor at Chattahoochee Valley Community College is to provide supervision of students in clinical learning experiences in compliance with Alabama Board of Nursing rules and regulations. Organize the clinical learning experience for assigned students that supports the achievement of course and program objectives. Provide timely performance feedback to students and maintain documentation. Plan and facilitate student laboratory experiences as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Commitment to Students in the Clinical/Lab Setting:

• Demonstrate and maintain a high level of competence and expertise in the teaching field or subject area
• Facilitate student learning utilizing a variety of learning options to meet individual student needs and differing learning styles
• Keep a list of skills demonstrated by each student for evaluation
• Ensure that clinical opportunities are accessible to all students, including those with disabilities and diverse learning needs
• Provide for effective evaluation and assessment of the learning experience by working with students individually at the bedside and as a group in pre and post conference
• Maintain necessary attendance, evaluations, and submit originals to the course instructors no later than 5 days after the last clinical
• Complete weekly student evaluations utilizing the established evaluation criteria by or before the next clinical day/ week.
• Counsel students experiencing clinical difficulties, document the outcome, and notify the course instructor
• Communicate with the course instructor on students who are not meeting the standard in a timely manner
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills, both written and oral, and work ethic (i.e., preparation and punctuality)

Commitment to Teaching Discipline:

• Regularly engage in professional learning activities and actively seek information about developing trends and ideas.
• Keep a record of professional learning activities to give to the Program Chair for annual evaluation

Commitment to the Department/College:

• Participates in the department's planning process at the appropriate level
• Performs duties within the established time frames (i.e., clinical evaluation, grading of EHR Tutor, submission of original evaluations to course instructors, etc.)

Commitment to the Community:

• Represents the institution in a positive manner.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be a Registered Nurse
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) degree from a regionally accredited institution
• Active Unencumbered Alabama and Georgia RN Licenses or Multistate RN License.
• Minimum of One (1) Year of Clinical Experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor and/or Master of Science in Nursing

The Recruitment and Selection Committee will screen all applicants for the position and select applicants for interviews. Interviews may consist of the following activities: question/answer session and/or skills demonstration. Upon completion of the interviews, the Committee will recommend a finalist for the position to the appropriate dean and the President, after which final employment decisions will be made.
