Learning Partner – BJU – 22.5 hours School: Backwell C of E Junior School Hours: 22.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 1:00pm (Term Time Only, including 5 inset days) Contract: Fixed term – 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2027 (subject to budget review) Pay scale: JG4: SCP 7 – 11 (£26,403 – £28,142 per fte) (£14,102 – £15,031 pro‑rata) Key Tasks Support the delivery of direct instructional support for pupils in whole class situations, small group and individual settings, following work plans created by teachers/SENDCO. Deliver brief, intensive, structured interventions that supplement classroom learning and enable pupils to retain access to high‑quality universal provision. Provide teaching triage: while roving the classroom, keep pupils on task and flag those needing further help to the teacher (assessment for learning). Help all pupils develop essential learning skills through scaffolding techniques such as those in the EEF scaffolding framework, enabling independence. Support teachers in planning, preparation, assessment and other administrative tasks. Foster and develop supportive relationships with all children. Work well as part of a team to support colleagues across the setting, under the direction of the SENDCO, and support another colleague when intimate care is required. Deliver structured activities and supervision for pupils during lunch breaks, focusing on physical activities and behaviour management. Take responsibility for your own continuing professional development. Contribute to the school’s aims and objectives, working within agreed policies and procedures, including safeguarding, code of conduct and safer working practice.
