Job Overview Masa NY is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our dynamic team in a fast-paced kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness and efficiency within the kitchen, as well as supporting chefs and kitchen staff in food preparation and service. This position offers a lot of potential and growth within the Company. Primary Responsibilities Cleaning and sterilizing countertops, kitchen walls, stoves, ovens, grills and sinks. Cleaning the entire kitchen once it is closed to ensure it is ready for the next day. Maintaining food storage areas like freezers and refrigerators. Receiving deliveries and organizing them in the kitchen. Washing cutlery and glassware, pots, cutting boards and pans or utilizing the dishwasher depending on the equipment being washed. Providing assistance to the Prep Cooks and other kitchen staff as needed. Supporting the Chef de Cuisine in basic food preparation like cutting ingredients, peeling and washing food items. Following New York Department of Health standards, procedures, and protocols when completing tasks. Complying with all Company guidelines, training procedures, and performance expectations. Regularly attending to your shifts and complying with the Company’s protocols regarding all absences and tardiness. Handling all Company curated dishware and glassware with meticulous regard and care. Communicating with BOH or FOH management regarding all breakage. Assuring all equipment is operating accordingly and communicating with management when there is a maintenance issue. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required 2+ years of experience as a Kitchen Porter. Strong interpersonal skills. Knowledge of New York Department of Health standards and protocols. Analytical skills - the ability to compare, contrast and quality check work. Strong verbal communication skills. Familiar with hospitality industry’s best practices.
