MEDICAL STAFF SPECIALIST II (Open) Employment Status: Full time; Shift: Day (United States of America); Facility: 1906 Belleview Ave SE, Roanoke Responsibilities Provide support to carry out the duties of the Medical Staff Services Department. Support initial, reappointment, and updating privileging functions. Document Medical Staff Services activities and review provider initial and reappointment applications. Participate in a team approach to ensure timely processing of privileging actions. Assist with updating policies and keeping the policy manual current. Maintain medical staff data files in compliance with Joint Commission standards. Utilize credentialing/privileging software and ancillary software to maximize electronic processes. Coordinate all aspects of privileging, including appointment and reappointment for Medical Staff and Advanced Clinical Providers. Collaborate with CCVS for completeness of credential files. Query the National Practitioner Data Bank. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Medical Staff Services. Qualifications Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree preferred. Experience: Three years in an office setting, preferably within an acute care hospital; demonstrated knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office; prior work with Medical Staff Services or credentialing preferred. Licensure / Certifications / Registration: CPCS certification preferred; AHA BLS-HCP required within 6 months of hire. Other Minimum Qualifications: Computer skills in Microsoft package and database management; strong problem‑solving and ability to work under pressure; highly organized with multiple task management; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; flexible; strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
