Job Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Long-Term Care

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive nursing care across the lifespan in alignment with organizational standards, policies, and evidence-based practices. The RN employs the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, culturally sensitive, and patient-centered services. This role involves collaboration with providers and interdisciplinary teams to promote optimal patient outcomes, safety, and overall patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct nursing care to patients with acute, chronic, and postoperative conditions across diverse diagnoses.
• Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop personalized care plans.
• Implement and evaluate nursing interventions based on patient responses.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely in accordance with provider orders and policies.
• Recognize changes in patient conditions and initiate appropriate interventions or escalate care as needed.
• Provide education to patients and families regarding care, medications, and discharge requirements.
• Deliver culturally sensitive and patient-centered care.
• Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary team members for coordinated care delivery.
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes accurately and timely in the electronic health record.
• Advocate for patients and assist them in navigating the healthcare system.
• Participate in quality and performance improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of Alaska.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at the time of hire.
• Knowledge of nursing principles, evidence-based practices, medication safety, and infection prevention.
• Strong clinical judgment, organization, prioritization, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
• Proficiency with electronic health records and clinical systems.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, push, pull, and move up to 50 pounds.
• Capability to stand for extended periods and perform bending, stooping, and kneeling tasks.
• Willingness to work in a moderate-to-high noise clinical environment.

Work Schedule

Flexible work schedule required, including three 12-hour shifts per week encompassing day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts. Experience in geriatric and dementia care is preferred.
