Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist at Boys Town Provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment to our outpatient clientele. Helps individuals manage their mental health conditions and improve their overall well-being. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES Conducts thorough psychiatric assessments to diagnose mental health conditions. Formulates accurate treatment plans based on assessment findings and clinical judgment. Schedules and conducts regular follow-up appointments to assess patient progress. Modifies treatment plans as required to meet changing patient needs. Prescribes and manages psychotropic medications as appropriate. Monitors medication efficacy and side effects, making adjustments as needed. Educates patients about their medications, potential side effects, risks and benefits. Provides psychotherapy or counseling services as needed or collaborate with therapists and psychologists to offer comprehensive care. Offers evidence-based therapeutic interventions, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical-behavior therapy (DBT), and others. Provides crisis intervention and emergency consultations as needed. Assesses and manages acute psychiatric crises and coordinates higher levels of care when necessary. Maintains accurate and up-to-date patient records, including assessment notes, treatment plans, progress notes, and other relevant documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations. Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, social workers, nurses, and support staff, to ensure holistic patient care. Consults with other healthcare providers and specialists as needed for comorbid medical conditions. Stays current with developments in the field of psychiatry by participating in continuing education, attending conferences, and reading research literature. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Strong diagnostic and clinical skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Empathy and a patient-centered approach to care. Willingness to work collaboratively in a team-based environment. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school required. Board certification in child and adolescent psychiatry required. State medical license to practice psychiatry required. Completion of a psychiatry residency program and child fellowship required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience in outpatient psychiatry preferred. Knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) systems preferred. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, EQUIPMENT USAGE, WORK ENVIRONMENT Position is relatively sedentary in a normal office administrative environment involving minimum exposure to physical risks. Will use office equipment such as a computer/laptop, monitor, keyboard, and a general workstation set-up.
