Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist at Boys Town
Provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment to our outpatient clientele. Helps individuals manage their mental health conditions and improve their overall well-being.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Conducts thorough psychiatric assessments to diagnose mental health conditions.
- Formulates accurate treatment plans based on assessment findings and clinical judgment.
- Schedules and conducts regular follow-up appointments to assess patient progress.
- Modifies treatment plans as required to meet changing patient needs.
- Prescribes and manages psychotropic medications as appropriate.
- Monitors medication efficacy and side effects, making adjustments as needed.
- Educates patients about their medications, potential side effects, risks and benefits.
- Provides psychotherapy or counseling services as needed or collaborate with therapists and psychologists to offer comprehensive care.
- Offers evidence-based therapeutic interventions, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical-behavior therapy (DBT), and others.
- Provides crisis intervention and emergency consultations as needed.
- Assesses and manages acute psychiatric crises and coordinates higher levels of care when necessary.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date patient records, including assessment notes, treatment plans, progress notes, and other relevant documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, social workers, nurses, and support staff, to ensure holistic patient care.
- Consults with other healthcare providers and specialists as needed for comorbid medical conditions.
- Stays current with developments in the field of psychiatry by participating in continuing education, attending conferences, and reading research literature.

- Strong diagnostic and clinical skills.

- Willingness to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school required.
- Board certification in child and adolescent psychiatry required.
- State medical license to practice psychiatry required.
- Completion of a psychiatry residency program and child fellowship required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in outpatient psychiatry preferred.
- Knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) systems preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, EQUIPMENT USAGE, WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Position is relatively sedentary in a normal office administrative environment involving minimum exposure to physical risks. Will use office equipment such as a computer/laptop, monitor, keyboard, and a general workstation set-up.
