Assistant Chief Flight Instructor

Job Title: Assistant Chief Flight Instructor Department: Engineering | University Airport Location: Hangar 5 (0235) Position Type: Regular • Scheduled Hours: 40 • Shift: First Shift Responsibilities Perform duties and responsibilities of FAA Assistant Chief Flight Instructor per FAA Regulations Part 141. Assist the Chief Flight Instructor in administration of Flight Education. Supervise Flight Instructors. Develop and monitor flight safety programs. Provide flight and classroom instruction. Conduct stage checks, progress checks, and final flight tests. Provide initial and annual standardization oral and practical checks for Flight Instructors. Ensure instruction quality and student progress/completion, including exams and check-rides. Coordinate and schedule personnel and aircraft. Maintain on‑call availability for emergencies during all operational hours of the Flight School. Adhere to alternating schedule with other Assistant Chief and Chief Flight Instructors. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Meets qualifications for FAA Part 141 Assistant Chief Flight Instructor. Instructional activity within the previous 24 months. Experience with a flight school certified through 14 FR Part 141. Minimum 3 years of relevant experience. Salary Range: $55,700 – $72,700 (based on education, experience, and internal equity). Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check; a drug screen or physical may be required during the post‑offer process.
