Job Description

This role operates a high-speed finishing machine, specifically a Tecnau cutter, to convert continuous rolls of printed paper into accurately trimmed individual sheets and mail pieces. You prepare printed materials such as postcards, letters, statements, invoices, and direct mail pieces for inserting, sorting, and mailing, working inline with high-speed inkjet printers to ensure that all finished pieces meet precise customer specifications.

Responsibilities

• Operate a Tecnau cutter high-speed finishing machine to convert continuous paper rolls into individual sheets and mail pieces.
• Print statements, bills, and direct mail on continuous paper rolls and prepare them for finishing.
• Feed continuous paper rolls into the Tecnau cutter and ensure smooth machine operation throughout the production run.
• Set up and adjust cutting specifications according to job requirements and customer standards.
• Trim postcards, letters, statements, invoices, and direct mail pieces to their final size accurately and consistently.
• Monitor production quality during operation to ensure proper cutting, stacking, and organization of printed pieces.
• Clear paper jams promptly and troubleshoot equipment issues to minimize downtime.
• Perform basic maintenance on the Tecnau cutter and related finishing equipment to keep machines in optimal working condition.
• Verify that finished mail pieces meet customer specifications for size, quality, and format before moving them to mailing processes.
• Coordinate the flow of finished pieces to inserters and mailing equipment for envelope insertion and postage application.
• Prepare printed materials for subsequent inserting, sorting, and mailing activities in the distribution workflow.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on experience operating production machinery in a printing or manufacturing environment.
• Direct experience or strong familiarity with high-speed finishing machines, particularly Tecnau cutters.
• Ability to set up and adjust cutting specifications on high-speed finishing equipment.
• Proficiency in monitoring machine performance and production quality during high-volume runs.
• Skill in identifying and clearing jams and troubleshooting basic equipment issues.
• Capability to perform routine and basic maintenance on printing and finishing machines.
• Attention to detail to verify that finished mail pieces meet customer specifications.
• Understanding of production workflows involving continuous paper rolls and inline finishing.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Printing press operation or related machine operation within a production environment.
• Experience working with high-speed inkjet printers and inline finishing equipment.
• Familiarity with preparing printed materials for inserting, sorting, and mailing in a distribution setting.
• Comfort working with statements, bills, invoices, postcards, letters, and direct mail formats.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment.

Work Environment

This position operates within a distribution-focused production environment that handles high volumes of printed statements, bills, invoices, postcards, letters, and direct mail pieces. You work with continuous paper rolls, high-speed inkjet printers, and Tecnau cutter finishing equipment in a setting where accuracy, consistency, and throughput are critical. The role involves standing for extended periods near running machinery and working around standard industrial noise and movement typical of a print and mail distribution facility.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Sacramento, CA.

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
